SENIOR DEPUTY FOR SPECIAL PROJECTS
Joan Crear serves as Senior Deputy for Special Projects on both the Constituent Services and Civic Engagement teams. She has been a member of the Councilmember's staff for more than three decades. She began her tenure with him at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Association, where she served as the Director of the Rosa Parks Sexual Assault Crisis Center, a rape crisis center, founded by Councilmember Ridley-Thomas and his wife Avis Ridley-Thomas in 1984. Joan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Cal State University-Dominquez Hills.
